Jan`s birthday 20th Oct

Monday, Jan`s birthday and a night out at the Showcase Cinema at Nantgarw to see Mamma Mia. ( Discount price for over 60s ) After the film called in the Bombay Blue, the Indian restaurant at the bottom of Treforest Estate for a lovely meal and a celebratory drink. I must say this is a pucker Indian restaurant not long opened which we will definitely be going back to.

Friday & Sat.Night

Started off in the Bunch of Grapes Friday with a couple of pints of O1, brewed by the pubs own brewery. Went over Alfred`s after for a couple of Worthies. Left at 11.00 to go to the Everest Tandoorie. Had superb Captain Patilla (Madras style) with pilaw rice and Bombay potatoes. Bottle of dry white with meal and Irish coffees to finish. Jan had Tandoorie chicken and John had a mixture of three starters.
Saturday, John & Pattie picked us up for trip down to the Butchers in Rhiwbina and The Derri. Couldn`t get served in the Derri as it was packed. Came back to the Bunch for a change. Over to Alfred`s after then up to the Gelliwasted Club to end the evening I thought but Pattie had other ideas. She wanted to go to the Everest having missed out on Friday. Had a dupiaza (Madras style) this time with Bombay potatoes. Took 4 small bottles of dry white wine from the club with us. Irish coffees to finish. A nice quiet day on Sunday apart for the morning shop at Tescos.

Thursday night at Alfred`s

Start of a busy weekend off in Ponty with a nice meal in Alf`s with Jeff & Steph and John. We had the earlybird meals, 3 x lamb shanks in a wine sauce, 1 pork steak in a mushroom and garlic sauce and 1 plain sirloin steak. 2 bottles of Shiraz to wash it down. The lamb dishes were very fatty but the others ok. the first bottle of Shiraz was superb (2007) the second (2006) not so good. Alfred`s was very full 90% women. A couple of drinks before and after the meal then up to the Gelliwastad Club to end the evening.
